Better buy some lottery tickets!
I'm never sure how I feel about rare cars like this. Yes, they're very nice to see but sometimes I get the feeling that someone with too much money cheated somebody else out of the opportunity of owning and really enjoying one of them by sticking it in a stable etc. But of course, if that hadn't happened we wouldn't be able to see them as they were originally.
And I'm probably just jealous because I certainly can't afford one!
You can rent one for a day Dave...see how you like them. Older cars are a lesson in patience, driving and engineering as well as global finance and beating off the silly women who think they get to have a ride. Better to rent, have your fun and give it back...?
if you have big bucks then go for it, for there mere mortals, sigh
Yes, it's a good idea, but probably the road to hell i.e.: being smitten... so I'd end up pining for it!
When I was 17 a pal of mine was doing up an ancient Daimler for his boss - it lived in a lockup near where I lived and it was in remarkably good condition although it was quite old - it had probably lived in a garage all its life (funny, I can smell the leather even now)!
I helped him a bit doing some boring sanding on a corner panel and he (and his boss) were amazingly quite happy for me to drive it. It was the first car I ever drove with a pre-select box and it was so ridiculously easy that it felt as though I'd been driving it for years.
The '1934 MERCEDES 170 SPORT ROADSTER' is the one I would like to bid on, however......................
Almost any one of 'em would do me!
