The boot multi changer has just packed up! There is power getting to the unit, but the head unit just says 'no cd'; and the head unit is working fine with the radio still. MB say they wont repair but replace the multi changer, at usual ott cost. Has anyone experienced this problem and successfully had one repaired?

Just bob it down to your local after market car hifi specialist - its probably where your dealer would send it anyway. Many have a repair service and should be able to provide an equivalent replacement unit far cheaper than the dealer, should a repair not be practical.

Audio 10 CD Multichanger

Mine showed EXACTLY these symptoms just after I bought the car (500 SL with unit from later S - class) . I took it back to the place I bought it and the owner's son very meticulously cleaned every CD and blew out the dust from the unit (if there was any) .

No problems since - worth a try! If that had failed , my next call was as advised in the first reply you got ! Good luck!

Mine's just done the same. First it showed 'no mag' in the display, which turned out to be a jammed CD. My friendly MB dealer in Bath sorted that out (for nothing, I may add) as part of the last service, and all was well for a while until I also got a 'no cd' message.

To be honest, all I did was waggle the yellow wire around which connects the changer to the head unit and - hey presto - everything's working fine again now. Hope it works for you, and must be worth a try. Incidentally, the dealer warned me against using copied CDs as they are more likely to jam. As if I would even think of such a thing!
