Audio 10 no optical output

Hi there,
recently bought a e300 td with audio 10 headunit and 10 disc multichanger, the head unit is not recognising the changer i think i have isolated the problem to the head unit not emitting anything to the optical cable from what i have read when you put the unit on cd mode then there should be a red output from the socket on the back of the head unit, mine is not doing this, has anyone got any suggestions on to how to fix this problem?

I have been triying to get my head around your problem, both the CD changer and the Audio 10 cant both emit the red light, sadly I have nothing in right now to check on this

I read on another post that when you select cd on the audio 10 head unit it should emit the red optic out at the back of the head unit from what little i know i understand that this wakes up the multichanger my head unit is not emitting anything when i select cd.

Firstly, if its a 10 Cd changer then its probably not a Mercedes one. They are all 6 disk changers.

The optical changers came along in August 1999. The wakeup for them is a copper cable not optical.

my mistake it is a 6 disc changer with optical interface looks like its the head unit thats faulty think i'm going down the route of buying a dvd based head unit, thanks for all your help.
