Guys,
I am having MB CD player fixed on my '98 C class. I will ask some details: Audio 10cd, RSD, CDC? What are these mean?

Sure you don't mean RDS?

Radio Data System, the gizmo which tells you which FM station you're on

Either RDS or RSD, something like that... And do these type of players run MP3?

I keep reading - on here and elsewhere - that they will run MP3, but I've yet to do so successfully. Seeing as the Audio 10 was standard kit on car way back in '96, I can't see that MP3 capability would've been deliberately built in back then.

General suggestion seems to be that slowing down the burn speed and using the best quality CD-R possible is the answer. I haven't been peed off enough to bother yet, but will have a look one fine day I'm sure!

Let us know if this works/how you get on?;)

I wish I hadnt checked.:( inserted mp3 format. It didnt run and freeze the player. I tryed to eject the cd, but it didnt. Turned player off/on, this time it didnt turn on. But, the manual says: "CDs which have been inserted incorrectly or have the wrong format will be ejected". Now, what I have to do to turn the player ON? And how to take the CD out?

BTW, many thanks for MANUAL...

Ouch. Mine simply skips through the tracks, like an old tape player on FFWD.

Have a look online for the unit removal tools; they cost about 8 quid I seem to remember - these are a bit steep but are Buy It Now,

You should have fairly easy access.
Anyone else out there know how to do this for matrix? Removal of unit seems drastic but I can't think of anything else.

Dont you think it may source from a fuse? Perhaps, fuse automatically cut the power to the player? Any ideas...

The radio removal keys cost £1 .09 from MB.

Any TV engineer could slip the top off to get the disc out, You could do it your self provided you move or lift nothing if it will come out that way. Many DVD and CD's have come my way over ther years, totally wrecked when a porn film has jammed in.

Malcolm

Do you think it is jammed CD which blocks the player to turn on?

Is there anyone out there who has actually successfully played MP3s on their MB Cd players?
Most comments are they "should" play but is there anyone who has actually got them to play, and on which ones?

Yes, it will try and load, maybe up to three times, when it cant it shuts down.

Normally if the power is removed for a few minutes, it will start the process again, the first thing it will try and do is to Eject so that it can re set. there is a separate fuse in the unit, it may have blown it but I have my doubts as the loading mechanics are very low power.

Evrything Digital can lock up, though its logic in this case, its the same thing.

I got it. The problem is not with fuse, checked OK. Just extracted the player from its box and opened up. Rolled the cd and turned it on. Having entered the code, I got it played..... REJOICE.
NOW MESSAGE, IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OF YOUR PLAYER, DONT INSERT MP3. IT DESTROYS...
