In my 2006 E class, the radio has an annoying fault where it doesn't switch on first time. As my car is covered by a warranty, I took it to MB in Salisbury to have a look at it. As expected it needs a new head unit. As the car is under warranty, it is being covered, at a cost of over £1000

How can a fairly mediocre radio cost over £1000 in this day and age? someone, somewhere is making a massive profit on this

By the way, great service from MB Salisbury. I was made to feel special by the people there, completely in contrast to MB Southampton.

Don't know where they are getting their prices from, when my Comand was "removed" at the dealers it was less than £1,000 for a new one fitted. That is dealer prices though rather than retail so that probably explains the price.

A Comand at £2k to £3k is also sick,,, MB could have set up a service center for these things but they do not care about the money we have to pay for these things. Yes after a life time of fixing these things, I do get sad about it all, also that a company like MB can sell cars that contain parts that can be fixed.

I have been looking at struts as used on cars with ABC,, all of the components are listed, and the repair information given, but the parts are not sold,,so owners can cough up £1k a time.

Colin always a said the MB Sailsbury are the nice ones in the bunch

They are really nice to deal with... however, I will get any repairs done with Colin unless they are competetive on price.

Interesting.

Audio20 is listed in some accesories brochures as costing about £550!

I think the dealership person you were talking to was including a load of labour in that cost aswell.
