Hello all, my auto gearbox has sprung a leak [ w211 E200] and have been told that it is possibly coming from around the selector shafts. Is there much involved in fixing this? While i was at it i was thinking of changing the transmission fluid and filter - is the filter metal or plastic type on this model?

It is a plastic filter. Make sure you ONLY buy MB fluid.

I suspect the pilot bushing is leaking as its such a common problem. Pop into a dealer and ask for one.

The pilot bushing is at the front of the gearbox and it is where the electrical plug connects to.

I must fit at least 10 a month.

leaking auto box

I've had that bushing replaced but there is still a leak, the chap who did the job suspects a leak around the selectors but is unwilling to do it :any reason
