Auto Transmission leak - also running rich

1985 230E W124 102 petrol. Transmission oil leak left-hand side of transmission at shallow-dome-shaped cap-like object, located near but not apparently related to shift linkage. Hard to see. Any ideas? ("Technibooks" Workshop manual very light-on regarding auto transmission - no diagrams/photos)

Also, plugs are fouling with sooty deposit - running rich. Cold-start thermo switch & valve seem OK. Problem arose only after head-crack repair, but that may be coincidence. Any ideas?

Have a look in here for where your leak is coming from, possibly needs a new o-ring. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1.
