Autodoc woes

Anyone else having issues with Autodoc purchases?

I'd hoped things may be settling down now that Brexit has happened and covid is less of an issue.

Ordered 4x Arnott air struts for the old W220 as it is still otherwise a good mile muncher... they took a month to arrive 'from stock' and then since sent back the old units for the core charge refund, following the instructions to the letter.

That was 4 weeks ago... they are sat in customs being held as we have not paid tax on them?? Autodoc confirmed this was wrong... but will not help further stating that it is our responsibility to ship them back... despite their returns (contractual) policy stating that no taxes are due and they would ensure no issues on returns. All clearly labelled on the parcels sent with UPS.

Just to add insult one of the 'new' arnott struts has catastrophically failed... blew out on the M1 almost putting my dad into the central reservation.
...not looking forward to trying to return that for a service exchange. :rolleyes:

id go legal on them pal !
Tempted - i've sent them a detailed email explaining the situation and expecting a resolution.
If i return the broken unit i will demand that they cover the cost of it being sent airmail or a similar fast route.

id already be doing it , never mind tempted , the longer you leave it pal , the harder it will be to do anything , they clearly don't give a hoot about customer service or product quality yet alone the could have killed a member of your family

'Proof' is the problem here - its word against word - we cant 'prove' that it failed catastrophically and endangered life. Getting them to acknowledge its faulty is going to be difficult enough as it is an internal failure.

They will just send you a new strut and use their big company status to get refunded by Arnott I would think

They will just send you a new strut and use their big company status to get refunded by Arnott I would think
I'm hoping so - but i'm over a month in now trying to get them to collect the returned original cores from customs in germany for refund - how long is it going to take to get the current strut replaced?? 8 weeks? typical.

Reports of new Arnott struts failing seem to be a thing at the moment. I wonder what the problem is.

Update: UPS have not delivered the return cores, despite having them for over 4 weeks. Autodoc have told me that it is a 6-8 week 'inspection' period for processing the core returns prior to a decision on if they will pay the core charge refund. At no point during the purchase process did they say that the core refund may be optional. After of course shipping them at our cost.

Further update: I have opened a return for the failed unit - they have told me to expect a TWELVE WEEK wait before they will ship a replacement, as the faulty unit has to be inspected first. This is obviously not acceptable.

We've replaced all 4 with autodoc.... so good luck to us is very much needed!!

This won’t help the op with his parts issues , but my Autodoc , Lemforder suspension parts for the E class just arrived this morning . Ordered on the 13th

Time to do your suspension now, an oil change too I guess....
No they came from Germany buddy . All car work suspended at the moment I’m knee deep in doing my patio :shock:

EU to UK no checks on imports until January next year as UK is not ready but UK to EU checks in place since 1st January hence the problems with returns from UK to Germany.
Think you may be going a little too deep with the foundations for the patio unless you're doubling it as a car inspection pit:rolleyes:
