T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Have a 211 E320 estate which is great, however, have one niggle. The auto lights turn themselves on if it is not really bright sunlight, so every cloud = lights on.

Can the sensor be adjusted and if so is this a STAR only remedy ?

Adjusted via star as you have said!!

Now, that's interesting - mine are a little touchy as well but was told by an independent, here on the Wirral, that there were no adjustments possible on Star. I will try elsewhere as they are very touchy!

It makes sense that its calibrated in some way. After all, sensors tend to vary I'd imagine.
I'd just add that mine often gets more touchy as the week rolls on, I then wash the car and it goes back to normal - just confirm that the sensor cover is clean and shiny.

Others have asked this before and meet with the same response, there is no adjustment available apart from the normal adaption to the type (i.e. tint) of screen.

Excellent!

Just shows don't believe what dealers tell you or what one reads in WIS!!

How do you do it? Not the steps in STAR but how do you know what values to input? How do you tweek the on/off settings?

You "guess" Pete,

If they come on in sunlight, then turn it down a bit and try, the same for coming on to late!!

on the w203 it is in the front sam coding, just choose a lux value that suits. could be in different modules on other cars.

The empirical approach, rarely fails! :D

Does the auto-lights function have a speed sensitive element? That is do the lights come on sooner if one is traveling at higher speeds?

I often find my lights come on as I travel ~70mph for a while then off again when dropping down to, say, 40mph. Only to come on again when going at 70 again??

Not as far as i no Pete, only the light sensor in the loop, that would need a speed sensor input from say the ICM!

Might be wrong but dont belive i am Pete!
