Hello, so I've had my C200K for a grand total of 3 days and out of nowhere an engine symbol in orange lights on the dashboard. The car no longer changes up from 1st when in "Drive" and I get no reaction when trying to use the tiptronic. We are out for the day but I manage to limp to a Mercedes garage where they pop the diagnostics kit on it and tell me that the Y3/6n3 (Speed sensor 3) has failed.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a common fault? The dealership has quoted me about £550 in total to fix the problem. A hefty sum. Does anyone know if this can be fixed by an independent?

Hi Malcolm, I live in Newark, near Nottingham. The car broke down over in Lincoln though so that's the Merc dealership we have left it at. Being so new to owning a Mercedes and not knowing any trusted indies we are just going to pay up this time. If anyone has advice on decent Merc specialists around Newark though I'd be very grateful.

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
Go to an independent, it will be as much as half the price to fix the same problem.
