Auxiliary battery terminals

The original (Mercedes/Tamiya) auxiliary battery on my 2014 w212 facelift e250 has failed. My Mercedes garage does not have one in stock and said they are backordered with unknown availability. I want to buy an equivalent 12V 12A/H. However, I have read that others have done this only to find that the battery connections are different. Is there a way to check this before buying?

I have found a Yuasa battery and its tech data sheet shows the terminals as well as identical overall dimensions. You are of course correct with your advice

and if you're able to put your old battery on the desk & ask for 'one them please' all the better. Many moons ago I bought a battery for my motorbike from a local bike shop, called in a day later after they'd filled it with acid & then attempted to fit it over the week end. Needless to say it wasn't the correct battery (too big) & Yamaha had seemed to have built the bike around the battery meaning half the back end of the bike had to come off to fit it. And it also now meant that the bike shop had a spare battery filled with acid ....

Your terminals will be a box type affair with a bolt hole in the centre.

When I changed mine I just snapped pic of origional incl spec, was very simple.
