Auxiliary Battery

Hi every one can anyone tell me I have a 2008 Merc 220CDI Estate is there a auxiliary battery on this model ? As not under pollen filter at front of car and unable to see anything in boot Thanks.

Have you looked under the square black PVC cover in the tyre well under the boot floor at the 1 O'Clock pos'n?

Yes that is were main battery is on my model Thanks

A 2008 E class (S211) doesn't have an auxiliary battery.
They were phased out, along with SBC braking with the 2006 facelift model.

A 2008 E class (S211) doesn't have an auxiliary battery.
They were phased out, along with SBC braking with the 2006 facelift model.

yep,

as I understand it SBC removed the sensible reliable brake servo and replaced it with a pump and a gas sphere to provide the pressure to put the brakes on (much like a 747, RR and a Citroen). In case the sphere plays up the Aux battery can help put the brakes on.

They then went back to a proper set up everyone used for 70 years - up until the Ford Focus Mk4 brought the madness back superseding the brake servo with some electric module of hell that plays up, failing to put the brakes on at times and needs recalls and software fun

The SCB Aux battery, should not be confused with other Mercedes models where some have a starter battery under the bonnet and a bigger battery for interior toys in the boot.
