After the success of Mrs Droverunner's CLK diesel bought last year now I'm starting to consider a replacement for my own 2002 BMW 5-series diesel estate I think a B-class manual diesel around 2008-2010 would suit.

There doesn't seem to be much about them on here and in the world of motoring many folks say you'd be better off with a Golf.

Any thoughts or pointers from owners appreciated (NB it will be DIY maintained).

Just in case anyone with B-class experience missed this before it fell down the page I'll give it one bump. Can only assume this model is unloved by forum folks??

Not Mercedes finest moment, they are expensive for what they are. You'd be better off with a C class or another CLK.

Some A and B classes even have Renault engines.....aargh!

Thanks for replying.

Thing is I need a large loadspace and to match my current BMW would probably need to go larger than C-class estate to an E-class estate... but I don't want a long car again. The B-class has a huge loadspace volume for it's external dimensions.

I wonder which engines are Renault... the diesels?
