Evening folks, We have a 2005 '55' plate B class diesel in the family, however it suffers from a VERY squeaky Auxilary belt.

The belt was replaced just before christamas due to it being squeaky and a knocking noise coming from that area in the engine bay. The belt was slightly damaged and the sqeaking stopped for a while, now its back with avengance.

The car only does very short journeys and during this cold spell i imagine the battery and therfore the alternater will be taking a bit of a hamering, could this have anything to do with the SQUEAK!!

Thanks in advance.

Pug

Hi
In what fashion was the belt damaged and who changed it, a dealer or an indie ?

The belt was a little 'feather edged'.

We had it done at an indie that we have used for years though not a Merc specialist

What sort of money am i looking at for the work and is it a job for very good local (currently used for years), a merc indie (if so any recomendations very welcome) or a main dealer job.

Thanks

Hi
Apparently the engine has to be lowered to get to this pulley, so an expensive job on this car.

Thanks Sam.

For a mechanic who knows what he is doing what sort of time frame is necessary for the job, ball park figure.

Cheers

Steve
