My next service is £811 . Oil n filter and alot of check this check that.

Extras are gearbox oil n filter.

Youd think paying £811 it would include air and fuel filters . But no !!

An £800 dealer service actually costs around £180 in fluid/parts and takes a couple of hours to complete on the driveway.
The charges they try and justify disgust me, most of the money goes into running the exorbitant dividend payments the directors take each year.
Fair dinkums for making a profit, but as a consumer it feels like robbery.

Good evening, my next service A is due in 40 days or 8500 miles. Yesterday, on dashboard was service BF in 45 days/ 8500 miles. I’ve changed only the air filters, nothing else. I’m quite confused ...should I ignore the days and wait for miles ? Thank you

Servicing is always time/mileage dependant, whichever comes first.
I do a very low annual mileage of just over 4000 miles so my service will always be time dependant.

I think it's recommended to repalce oil even in an engine that doesn't turn much as condensation can/will form within the engine if its stood still for long periods of time.
I'd replace within the timeframe myself as I see no harm in having fresh oil in my engine. Dependant upon your own finances of course.

surely someone would question lots of incredibly neat stamps in a book? It messes up my ocd but garages always stamp books randomly (some even upside down)

actually I’ve purchased a service history book for my car from eBay (no stamp though..) ... as I don’t intend keeping the CLS in the dealer network and the slk is too old for that as well, or after 100k miles at an indépendant as normal servicing is within my capabilities but at that point there is nothing is there, apart from receipts for stuff which I do keep.. and can’t update the online history unlike the bmw method.
