hi guys, a bit of a newbie question here,I'm about to give my Mrs car a service and I'm going to do it myself,

its a 02 reg C220cdi auto can you tell me what service parts i need to get and if there's anything i need to look out for whilst giving it a service,by the way its the b service, also how much oil do i need to put in and what type
also the parking brakes sticks slightly, does this mean it needs adjusting at the rear wheels or is it a sign if the rear discs are worn,
I'm sorry for so many questions any help will be appreciated

B service usualy mean you change oil, filter, airfilter, pollen filter if not been done recently, replace brake oil, replace antifreeze.

check for all brakes, depending on mileage you could also try to change the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) with filter and gasket however it will require MB dipstick. this usualy need to be done after 60-70K

these are the main parts you will need to change/check. along with thorough going over for any faults etc

Go to merc and ask for a quote and a print out of what they would do in a b service on your car that will give you an idea that's what I do then buy the parts and take it to my Indy

ive had parking brake cables on these stick so the parking brake doesnt release on 1 side. easy enough to check though. undo the clip at each side of the rear seat base and remove. black metal cover in the middle held in by 3 10mm headed nuts undo these and remove cover. underneath theres the front of the rear cables coing into a metal 'balancer' connected to the front cable (going to the parking brake cable) operate and release parking brake whilst looking to see if the 'balancer' goes back equally in distance at both sides. if it does, all should be fine. if it stays forward at 1 side, check the parking brake actuating lever inside the parking brake drum. id advise checking this 1st if thats free then you know its the cable. a drop of penetrating oil did the trick in the case that i had. worst case scenario is a replacement cable. however if levers on the shoes in the park brake drum are seized, simply remove the brake shoes and free off with penetrating oil. that cures them

if you are checking the brakes anyhow then usally you would check the park brake levers for being seized as part of that check. only remove seat base if the levers and shoes move freely

B service= oil filter and oil, pollen filter, remote bats, wipers. Normally the parking brake light stays on althought the brakes have released ok,its due to the quadrant under the rear seat sticking, guve it a good lube and free it off, adjust the cables while your in there.

No bleed screw, the drain is on the ns of the rad, just fill the header tank and run the engine with heater on hot,the bleed the air out quite easily.
