Hello, long story but in summaryish, the spec includes the AMG easy pack tailgate feature. MB contacted my mother to advise pick-up yesterday. When she confirmed, MB then said it wouldn’t be ready until next week and that they had forgotten to tell her last month that the boot doesn’t open remotely and that you have to pinch two buttons and then it then opens hydraulically????? This to an elderly lady going through the Motability scheme and requiring remote unlocking because of her arthritis. More to the point the car is not to spec... so my question is does anyone know of any issues with production given the recent issues or anything with this option please?

Well to answer your question yes.

It was on the news here in Germany a fes months ago that MB have said they are ramping up manufacture of cars missing many options simply because they cant get the components in and to keep thier sales going.

The saga continues: I just called the sales guy to reject the car and was told that Mercedes are not taking any more new orders for the B or GLA class and to not expect any new car for at least two years!!!! He wanted to refund our deposit too???
When asked when he would have known about this issue given that it was ordered in December 2020 and because of their mistake was not ordered until April, he said we only find out when we inspect cars when they arrive.... considering he had called in June to advise us to expect the car in July which then moved to September and then to last Friday with a passing statement of 'oh by the way it won't have the easy pack feature... does this sound right?

Would welcome any comments or experience of others ordering new cars, especially a B or GLA please. Thank you

An update: absolutely shocking treatment from dealership, so I visited two other dealerships get to the bottom of it, both of whom confirmed the following and apologies if this is already known...

1) chip affecting augmented sat nav etc... Lack of component affecting production, however can be retrofitted, so cars can be released from the factory.

2) door component that locks and opens door is patented in China, for some reason there is a issue in the continued supply, but this means that cars will not make it out of the factory If without this component and needed as it is a security breach and it cannot be retrofitted.

3) orders are being honoured in order of when ordered.

4) new orders are being taken, but advice is don’t hold your breath and delivery dates are not even being attempted. Usual delivery dates can be three months but can expect anything up to a year. We have 10 months on the clock...But I am thinking another 6 months...

The dealership processing the order also tried to bamboozle my mother further by saying that they will never be making any future B and GLAs with this feature which is not correct as confirmed by the other two dealerships...

All models will be as per brochure specs but just won’t be delivered until???????!
