B200 CDi W245 engine noise (auto)

Hello all,
when i started up the car this morning it was making a really loud revving and clicking noise.
it wouldn't go into gear. I then turned off engine and restarted. I managed to drive it to the garage and when i got there, the clicking noise had gone but engine louder than normal.

i really don't wanna get ripped off by garage so just wondering any ideas as to what it can be?

Check your transmission fluid level, sounds like the pump in the gearbox is running dry .

I think I have the same problem with my B200
