Hi guys,

Anyone know how to change the bulb. I see the white panel where the bulb I assume sits but how do you change the bulb?

You need to:

  • carefully pull up the chrome gearshift surround (just go round, little bit at a time, as you hear clicks)
  • then unclip the lower centre console trim, starting at the back of aluminium / wood side runners (they stay with the trim)
  • then you'd be able to remove the small vertical panel under the upright centre console, right over the power socket
  • and finally, remove the power socket assembly (if you have an actual ashtray, that goes first)
  • the light bulb is fixed to the power socket.

I actually did a DIY install (blue LED) on my C169, as it didn't have a light there - non-smoker package :D


PS If your's is automatic, the gear lever needs to be in N
