baby seats in the back of a CLK W209

Hi Everyone-

An new arrival is due in the boot family in the next week and wondered if anyone had put baby seats into the back of their CLK W209 and if they had any concerns about the facts that there are side airbags in the back?

Does anyone know if this would be an issue? Does Isofix stop these from going off if fitted? I didnt really want to keep putting the seat in the front and disabling the front bags.

I am hoping not to have to change my car to get something more practical as I have only had the CLK 5 months so any advice would be appreciated!

AFAIK you CANT disable any of the airbags !!

You need a seat with Airbag Recognition !

I'm in the same dilemma !

What did you end up doing !

i checked with some friends and one of the midwives and they said as long as the airbags werer not front on if they did go off they would just hit the side of the seat. I am not fully convinced to be honest and have either the dilemma of getting a different car (something a bit more practical) or getting a second car. I was going to go to the mercedes garage and check this out but dont want to feel that they will try and sell me something that i may not need. Will keep you posted after I have been to the garage

to put your mind at rest, the side airbags are much more gental than the very aggresive front bags there is no problem having the seat in the back and an MB child seat only dissables the front passenger air bag
