Report them! :D

A new site where you can report a car and embarrass the driver by entering the number plate and describing the bad driving!

Reading the comments against the plates I keep thinking that a lot of them are just wind ups.

It would probably be just windups....just like how some people put their friend's picture in "lonely and need a friend section" on websites!!!

As the website has just started up, like forum sites there's some 'fake' ones on there just to make the site look busy, but as the BBC have just advertised it, I'm sure they're be some real ones soon!

The problem with that site is it is just one persons word against another. Mr Mondeo may decide to put Hanz's number up for driving behind him on the motorway. Who is right and who is wrong? anyone with a grudge can flame away.
I once called a coach company as I saw one of their coaches cut multiple cars up and force one onto the wrong side of the road at a roundabout. The person on the other end of the phone took no interest in the complaint against their driver and was only interested in reporting me for phoning the complaint in whilst driving. The person I spoke with was under the impression that handsfree calls are illegal.

And with the amount of cars in the UK how can you monitor the whole site, the only way would be a number plate search

err what was your number Bobcat, I wont put it up promise, scouts honour.

Well that's a problem that the site will have to run the risk on. I see it as nothing but a bit of harmless fun, although something will probably happen, there's bound to be two people reporting each other one day and the argument will esculate...

I don't know how they remember the plate nos either! I would just forget ...

I would find it amusing if my plate did appear on the site!

True, but whats the point? Any person who considers himself ( or herself) to be a competant and careful driver can report another driver who he ( or she) considers is driving in a dangerous way.

S22 RTA 1988 defines driving "Dangerously" as
A person drives dangerously if
(a) the way (s)he drives falls far below what would be expected of a competent driver, and
(b) it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.
(c) It is obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving the vehicle in its current state would be dangerous.

Of course, you need to evidence it, but it can be done alone.

So, thats most of the people I saw on the M25 this morning, especially the To**er in the silver Mazda MX5 heading towards the Dartford crossing at 11:30 am!

That is true, however it is very different making an official complaint to the Police against another road user to posting on that web site. Very few people are willing to go to a Police Station to give a statement yet those same people would be more than willing to post on a website

Well when the Police tend to get involved it's if there's an accident, or car causing a serious amount of trouble, not when someone just cuts up someone else which the site is designed for..
