Back at the car again today to put things into motion. Took fuel line off to see if it pumped anything and there was a tiny spurt of filthy fuel (see pic). That was fuel after ignition on wait for prime and Turning over. I wasn’t able to tell if it pumped more fuel in between attempts. I’m no mechanic but i’d say thats not nearly enough. Next i’ll jump relay and then drain and clean out fuel system from all the filth. Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers
you've some loose nuts at the top of the engine....that probably wasn't helpful

You should get fuel from the red line with key on or if pressure in green line.
Does sound like the regulator is blocked.
Not sure what you mean about the tank heating up?
Shouldn't have said tank heating up. I meant the trapped vapours pushing fuel through the line if that's a thing. As for the regulator, I assume the green arrow and red arrow on top is the fuel into the distributor and the bottom is fuel return? At least fuel is getting to it and the fuel is clean. Got to take the little wins. I'll head back in the coming days to take it off, examine and test. Are there any cheap replacements if it is buggered? I had a quick look and they were all $200-400 which I think is just a bit much.

Cheers heaps

Which ones???? The only things I've undone are airbox, fuel lines, injectors and that regulator bracket. If its something else it could be from the previous owner trying to do what im doing

So you have fuel in the fuel regulator ?
Fuel is at the green arrow but nothing is coming out of either of the red arrows. Tried it with and without vacuum hose connected. Same results both times

Also i can see a vacuum hose off the thermal time switch .How many more vacuum lines are not connected up ? these engines use vacuum for so many things they all need connecting up . It is like entering a horse in to a race that only has 3 legs,, and hope he wins .

I figured. I’ve got a 4runner that is more more vacuum operated than petrol. Which photo are you looking at? I’ve had tunnel vision on the fuel system. Point me to the line you’re referring to. Next time I’m there i’ll take a hunt around for anything that’s loose/disconnected. Cheers for pointing it out

Will go back and have a look. Been working all week so haven't had a chance to go and see it.
