Hi

Had a set of rear tyres installed via blackcircles.
The cost didn't involve balancing the wheels. In my rush I forgot to ask whether the wheels were balanced or not.

Is it a disaster if the wheels aren't balanced?

Thanks

You'll know if they're not because you'll wobble at the back.

Any decent tyre fitters will balance wheels as a matter of course, some charge for it seperately.. if not ..as said ur rear end will vibrate at around 40 to 50 mph..

You most definately will notice out of balance rear wheels!

Not through the steering wheel but through the whole car, a general vibration and unsettled feeling

Get them checked asap

take the car up to about 50mph then accelerate slowly up to legal limit(or more if u can) and lister for a humming sound and a sort of warble sound if u can hear either then the rear wheels will need balancing.but its not a major problem if they are not balanced.also check the wheels for clean balance weights they could be back on weights on the inside or stick on weights..check your bill to see if u got charged as well.

As Turnip says you probably wont notice it on the rear, but to be sure why not swop the rears to the front and see if you get any wobble . If they are ok on the front then they will certainly be ok on the rear!.

Some cars seem to be tolerant to unbalanced rear wheels but mercs aren't one of them. I lost a weight from one rear wheel and I certainly knew about it at 80! To be fair, it felt quite smooth from the wheel but looking across at the front passenger seat (unoccupied) it was juddering around like crazy. At 100 my filling were coming out.

Why don't you just phone the place that did it and ask them. It makes life a whole lot easier.

Good point well made.
