Ball Joints

Hi,
i have just been told by MB sweden that my front ball joints need replacing. They have said it will cost approx £330.00 per side .My steering wheel is noisy when turning at slow speeds and the drivers side(lhd) front of the car makes a squeaky noise also when going over bumps.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Is this something i can do myself?
Is it a fairly straight forward job that i can take to a good Independent?
PLEASE HELP an English man in A very cold Stockholm!!!

Sounds likely - I believe lower ball joints can wear from 60K miles onwrards.

Lower ball joints are about £35 each to buy, so it's up to you how much you find acceptable to pay for labour. Takes about 30 minutes to change.
