Hi all,
Just pulled the dash on the W210. I was careful to diconnect the battery before the connectors. Put it all back together and now its complaining about the BAS and ABS (though not ESP!). All I did was dsc the battery and dash, haven't been near anything else. Any ideas?
Worth disconnecting the battery for an hour?

Wierd. Left the car for an hour. Went back to dis the battery for an hour. Drove it the 20 feet back into the garage and the lights went out. All seems ok now.

JB, I know what you think: This is my fault:sad:

It could be a fault in the system, but I doubt it.

If your voltage drops by a couple of volts it will illuminate, could be.

If the fuse goes, it would light also, could be the fuse.

How did you get that post in in front of mine JB.

Anyway, one question: When you said that the light came on in the first post. Was that for a while just after, or did you take it for a spin?

The voltage answer I gave above, may still have been the cause, or did you go near any fuses?

Hi,
ran the engine for a while. Didn't actually drive anywhere, just forward and back on the drive. I was toying with going for a spin, wasnt sure whether that would have done the trick.
Any yes, I thought I'd buggered something up.

Just stripped the dashboard down in the vain hope that I could fix the clock and temp displays that are pixelated. When I put it back in, the fuel gauge just clicked and wouldn't move, the clock doesn't even light up anymore and the displays are as bad as ever! - oh - And the has ABS packed up. Not a good day!

Still the light is a bulb I would imagine, the displays are at least no worse, I've sorted the fuel guage and the ABS is playing again. So, I'll just get myself a new bulb and that will have to do.

HI

When you dis'd the batt you switched of he steering angle sensor. On reconnection you need to turn the steering lock to lock to intialise the steering angle sensor , windows, sunroof and clock also need setting and sometimes radio depends on how long dissconected

Thanks Piestore - it all becomes clear now. I knew about the radio, windows and SRS - didn't know about that one though!
Its all a learning excercise.
