BAS what does it do

Can somebody please tell me what BAS brake assist will do for a manual car and how it works .

Basically it watches for emergency braking and then assumes you are too stupid to brake hard enough for yourself!!

I had a situation when a fox sprinted out of the side of a hedge at the side of the road and attempted to commit Hari-Kari in front of me. I braked quite firmly and the car assumed control and stopped dead. Nice. Thanks. I and everyone else could have survived without the whiplash thank you!!

However, in the right circumstances I think it would be brilliant.

In an emergency approx 2/3 drivers don't hit the brake hard enough. Thats why its a good system.
