battery/alternator light

Hi, I've just replaced all the glow plugs on my 320cdi (2000) 210. The batt/alt light still comes on after starting but the glow plug light is now staying off. I thought the batt/alt light would go off now as there is no other sign of a fault. Anybody else had this problem?

The battery/ alternator light is telling you that your alternator isnt charging, get it checked pronto, otherwise it will let you down, flat battery...

If the light is up and the battery is not going flat it may be the signal wire from the alternator to instrument cluster is broken. I had the opposite happen, the main output wire from the alternator broke whilst the smaller signal wire remained intact. Result - the charge fail light remained out but the battery went flat with no warning.
