Hello there

I have a 93 320CE coupe. got 186 on it, I love it. Drove it around alot yesterday, was fine, parked it in car park at Heathrow to drop someone off, came back and it just would not start. No power at all to starter - not turning over whatsoever, turn the key and zero happens. All lights, electric windows etc working perfectly. Tried a jump start and no use. An alternator went once in another car years ago and windows etc starting working on their own etc but there's none of that this time.

Someone has said something about connections to the solenoid... not that I'm an expert.

If anyone thinks this could be something simple that I could do, please help and save me joining RAC today as I'm skint. It's in car park 1 at terminal one - it's 90 quid a day! and I've got until this evening to get it out or start paying...

Thanks very much in advance

Dave

gosh your paying alot, cant help you technically,

but if i was you i would at least get it home, get a mate with a tow rope.

at this rate you would have a lifelong membership to the RAC

This sounds exactly like an immobilser problem - stories abound of cars being stuck at airports because of the radar affecting them.

I'm not sure how you could prove that - other than by moving the car somewhere else.

Very basic thing - have you got another key you could try? Try locking the car, leaving it for a few moments then unlocking and trying to start again.

Hi

I wasn't paying the 90 quid a day - would have done if I could't get it out by 7 tonight. Joined RAC, they came and started it remotely - he thought it was the thing in the gearbox that stops it starting when you're in Drive etc. Drove it home, parked it, tried to start it and dead again. Didn't want to take it to garage as too skint to pay right now anyway. Until I get a big cheque jext week.

Regarding the keys, I've got a different one for starting than for door - the starting one needed replaced last year - the whole start key unit was replaced then.

Thanks for help.

Sounds like its the switch on the center consul playing up, the center trim has to be removed to get to it.

the details of how to get it apart are on the above site, just find your car with the fiirst 6 VIN numbers.

That looks an amazing set if diagrams, thanks. I can't see 124 320CE but I take it it's the same as 300. Not sure what to do once I open it but I'll check the Haynes book too.

Thanks very much.

Your car is there, the 124's are in two halves one at the bottom of the page.
