Battery getting flat.

Hi all,

I have a w211 e270 Auto, that is getting flat at the weekend when I try to start it. I normally only drive at weekends, so looking to get a decent charger which can top up the battery every few weeks, with the battery still connected if possible.

Any recommendations?

I was always told never to charge a battery insitu, especialy ones fitted with alternators, giving my age away here I think!

Hi - I purchased C TEK XS 3600 for same problem with E211 220 CDI - leads can be attached to battery permanently and charger lead clips into place - this system is a 'conditioner system' and cannot overcharge battery or damage vehicle electronics - I leave on charge all the time when vehicle not in use - bonus, it also charges Honda Scooter battery.

Cheapest with free delivery I have seen is via www.ultimatefinish.co.uk which is where I purchased mine from via Internet

I totally agree and so easy to use. One Honda scooter battery went flat overnight and charged ready to go in two hours. Fly leads permanently attached to all three vehicle battery's makes life so simple

Might be worth checking your running voltage, if running at 13.2 then there isnt enough, needs to be about 14.2 or 14.5.

If running voltage is 13.2 or there abouts then its possible the regulator pack on the alternator has failed and will nee to be replaced.

I have 2005 E220CDI and use C TEK Model XS 3600 - this will be perfect - you can search C TEK on Google and go direct to their site for all information on this item

Has advantage of leaving connected to battery without fear of cooking something - it also has facility for charging motorcycle batteries and a low temperature charging setting
