Silly question, as per the title, where has it been hidden folks? I've found numerous cubbies in the boot, under the bonnet, even an attachment point for a battery clamp (I think), just beside the top of the strut on the N/Side front carefully hidden under a bright red sliding cover. Hmm...I need to check if there's a particular way/method for jump starting the Merc. Anyhoo back to the original question, where is it?

Thanks John, I thought I'd found the positive site and your picture confirmed this, it also helped with the suggestion for the negative mounting point too. Thanks again!

On my car it is NOT in the boot sir!

I found it by a process of elimination, lol. :p I followed the positive and negative cables from the mounting points for the jump lead cables under the bonnet back to the source which, turns out to be just in front of the bulkhead, below the heater motor box. A voila, a rather large battery hiding out of sight.
The important part is that at least I know where it is now, lol. :D

Thank you everyone, for your assistance in this somewhat puzzling investigation.:D

Upon finding the battery, another question has arisen.

When I removed the cover which exposed the battery I expected to find a pollen filter in front of the heater motor, or see the back side of it, however, there was none I could see in place. I just wondered if it is positioned inside the car on the outlet side into the cabin? Has anyone discovered it's location?

I apologise for being the proverbial pita.
