Hi Guys,

I had a 'red' workshop warning come on yesterday with a battery icon, then a "Convenience functions temp unavailable" notice - Any ideas what is causing this?

Cheers

seems your battery is losing its capacitance,

the cars ecu's are shutting aux items to protect the battery.

how old is the battery. is it a maintenance free battery

The alternator has gone wrong, hence the red warning lamp, as the battery voltage drops it switches of the consumer functions when it falls to around 11.5 volt.
It should only be the regulator/diode pack on the rear of the alternator, do not get talked into a new alternator.

Cheers guys!

The car is 1 month away from its 3rd birthday, wouldn't this be a warranty item?

The dealer said that the alternator was generating zero output! They're putting a new one in under warranty.

Exactly, I'm hoping I can get all the niggles out of the way before the warranty expires! ;)
