Hi folks, Apologies if this question has been asked in the past.. But I have a 2013 C180 Coupe which I bought back in November 2020 and whilst cleaning it a few days ago I thought whilst I was in the engine bay I'd check the date stamp on the negative battery post.

Looking at the post it had 08/13 stamped on it, so if I'm reading it right that means its from August 2013, which is around the time the car was built.. The battery works/charges ok and the car starts and runs totally fine..

So question is, would you change the battery purely based on its age? Surely an 8 year old battery is considered bad now?

Any suggestions would be great :)

I’d only change if it warrants it, no point in changing it if it’s working perfectly… ;)

Ha thats true! I was thinking the same to be honest.. A few people on youtube etc say to change after 6 years but if it works why change it :)

I was curious to see what other owners thought

My May 2011 212 is still on its original battery, my wife's 171 battery almost lasted 10 years. Both were Varta.
If it works don't fiddle.
