My car is at home and I'm at work, so can't check for myself.

My battery is flat and I'm looking at buying a portable battery charger or jump start kit.

Just wondering would these work for my car
2000 CLK230 automatic

Halfords Fully Automatic Battery Charger

Portable 12V Jump Starter

Heavy-Duty 5-in-1 Jump Starter

That last one is designed for cars that require up to 400A crank power. Anyone know what crank power my car requires?
What other specs would my battery have, so I don't buy something that doesn't work. What amps it would be, lead acid or gel etc.......
If it was unsealed, could I top it up?

Also, in case I have to buy a new battery could someone maybe link one from Halfords that would be ok.

Many questions here.

If the battery is the original,,then well past its sell by date.

Is the car standing and not being used much.

Do not get a boost jump stater, they can kill the electrics on MB's

I would not buy a Halfords battery,,much better off with a Bosch,Banner,Exide, Varta, its worth shopping around, as the prices can vary so much. Do a web search,,Costco are good if you have a card, as are Macro too

Malcolm, I'm sure Col once stated that jump boxes are preferable to performing a jump start from another vehicle. I remember reading this recently, here is the thread:

Yes correct,,this refers to an expensive boost jump starter and not the cheaper ones that are very spiky.

The voltage does need to be controlled ,,if the car battery is dead flat,,then any voltage can be put out by cheap units, if it rises to over 15 volt then you have the danger of doing damage
