Hi guys

Just a quick question, who do you get your car battery from?
I’ve just been looking for a new battery for my car which has never been changed, so 12 years old, but now on its last legs with the cold weather
My cars a e320 CDi and have a agm 95amp stop start in the boot.
The best price I can find is £119 delivered from Alpha batteries with a 4 year warranty.

So who do you use?

^ A 95Ah AGM battery for £119 is extraordinarily cheap.

Tayna or the dealer are my first choices to look followed by ECP and their never ending sale.

On the basis I was not happy to DIY my battery change I used Halfords. OK they now know not to connect a slave to the OBD port, that cost them £174, but the comfort of getting battery and alternator tested, battery fitted (it's a large lump in an S204!) and local supplier if there's any problem under the 5 year warranty. OK I paid about £40 more than buying a similar battery from tayna, but in my case I felt it was worthwhile, especially as Tayna are on the north wales coast so a hell of a long way from me!

You're not going to beat Tanya and others online. However, you can wait for 50% off with FLASH50 code, usually midweek between 7pm-9pm.

GSF- Yuasa 019 AGM £219 with VIP50 code. They do 60% discount code when active.

With ECP, you can return the goods within a year if unused and in saleable condition. There's no restocking fee.

With GSF, their list price is silly. However, they're cheap for filters with discount. I prefer ECP/GSF because you can return at any counter. I once bought Bosch glowplugs for the beemer at £6 each.

Currently at 55% off with VIPW60 and 60% off for wiper blades with WIPE60.

My original lasted 14 years, I got a merc battery and asked them for hefty discount. If it lasts 14 years better value than changing every 5 years. I will report back in 1o years!

Thanks for the link Mr Wighty!,but it not a gel battery, it’s a sealed lead acid

The cheapest gel batt so far is from Alpha batteries, has anyone used this company?

The car has behaved today as it seems to be warming up out there, but I will need to replace before we have another cold blow, as it wont turn over very quick in the mornings, also won’t help as I’m not using the car as much, due to waiting for a house to sell that I’ve recently refurbished.

Tanya and Varta (OEM) battery comes in at circa £150 (AGM) which is about as good a discount as you will get + next day delivery

I always check the state of charge of a new battery before fitting and top up if necessary

MJ you car must have been in its warm garage all its life ,,and not sitting out in the worst of winter . When its demand would be needed on a frosty night than you will wish it had been changed .
