Becker Map Pilot (Card) Problems

Hi Janer,
More apologies for yet another late reply. We move just before Christmas and still dealing with the aftermath I think. What is your status now with regards to the Becker problem?
I did register an account with them, as in my case I purchased the latest European/UK maps etc...although even with a clean install I still couldn't get it to work. Once the Becker unit has been set up with a password (however long ago that may be) it remains protected. I guessed mine after many hours of trying. Le me know how you have got on.

I appreciate you getting back to me, we moved about 3 years ago so I totally understand how busy you must have been, especially around Christmas!
Sounds like you were lucky to have guessed the password, although I don't know to this day where I could have inputted that information!
I finally got a response from Becker after my email of complaint, in which they admitted they had overseen an issue that I had told them about within my first email in September. In this latest email they told me that as a goodwill gesture they had added a map update for free. They also said I needed to register my email and the unit on their website, which I thought I had already done but went ahead and did it again and then there was a lengthy list of instructions of how to fix the problem, which absolutely daunted me so I took the unit, cable and emails to my local Mercedes Benz dealership (the same dealership who updated the unit to try to sort the problem before and charged me £90 for it). They had the unit for about a week and I collected it just last Thursday and tadaahhh! It works! They didn't say what they did, I didn't ask, I'm guessing they just went through the instructions from the email, they didn't charge me again so that was a bonus but I had already forked out before and it didn't work. So the short answer is - it's fixed, it works and if it ever stops working again I will not be contacting Becker, I will take it to my local dealership.
Thank you for your posts regarding this, after scrawling through many websites and forums I have found that I am not alone with the customer service I have received from Becker, it is such a shame that Mercedes chose this company to deal with.

Hi,
So glad you have finally got things sorted. I know exactly you have bene feeling. Very surprised (and pleased) that MB dealer actually sorted it for you. They usually say nothing to do with them and blame Becker.
At the end of the day though its working. Nice one!
