The bottom bolt will go past the pulley, just...

You may need to get some grips on the washer, it will stick to the thread and make your life difficult. There is room to remove the bolt enough to get the shocker out, I've done it twice now.

Thanks Parrot of Doom, I know this is an old thread but I just changed mine. Just for Clarity for anyone else thinking of doing it, I released the spring tension -you need a lever in the hole on the top Spring point to take the pressure off while undoing the top spring bolt( I used a small socket on an extension bar). Then undid the damper top bolt, which allows the tensioner pully to move so that the damper bottom bolt is above the Fan pully. The bolt doesnt actually clear the Fan pulley, it's a knat's dick off, By chance I spotted a small dent in the Fan pulley where I guess The last person made when they removed that bolt. I had the problem that Parrot mentioned with the washer, It needed gripping with Mole grips and the bolt unscrewed through it just untill I could get the damper out of the bottom holder. It burred over the thread on the bolt but luckily it left enough good thread to go back in when the damper was replaced.
