I initially joined the forum for advice and to glean the knowledge from all you people in cyber world.
I have actually just joined MBOA, paid the 60 pounds for 2 years, thought well why not, apparently you receive discount on parts and service.
Has anyone else joined the association and what are there experince with dealers honouring the discounts and the membership feeling in general.
the magazine was a nice read.

thanks

Very much so, its a two way thing, you can learn a lot, and give a lot.

Do they ever reply to you...?

Joined, paid the European fee (instead of being stingy and paying the UK fee), cannot login to members areas, get no reply when emailing!

Thanks Myros, will try again.

Im mainly only interested in getting cheap parts contacts, aside from my cars 'breathing problem!', I want to buy new disks and pads, front and back as they are getting near limit. Got a quote of EUR438 for the lot, so just seeing how much UK side.

try Brakes International at Rochdale

I used to work with the MD, my mechanic gets all my Merc/BMW/Alfa break bits from them and they are very good. They have a website, and I don't get or want a kickback. I just like to see good service passed around.

Thank-you Myros, their website is certainly impressive and it covers all the vehicles I own, so well worth knowing.

I am interested in joining and had a look a this link. It says you get discount when having your car serviced but no details of where and how much discount. I would like to establish the terms of this offer before committing myself. Can someone who is a member please provide more details? Thanks very much.

the details of the discounts are provided once you join, a huge list of the discount rates and the dealers that accept the card. For my dealer - nottingham, it said ask your dealer regarding discounts.
I was a little worried at this but I asked my dealer and they said yes 10% - phew.

The discount for parts and service varies from between 10-15%

If I was you i would call your dealer and ask them before becoming a member. But being a member otherwise is still good you get sent a monthly magazine with lots of useful info.

I must admit, I have done just that and asked my dealer MB of Norwich (Robinsons) what discount they give, and the answer was "None"

Had a look at the members yearbook,
Robinsons is listed. Its doesnt say anything at all about discounts offered by this dealer, not even to enquire regarding discounts.
Sorry the info isnt more favourable.
Maybe you can get in touch with the association and ask them to put a bit of pressure on Robinsons

Try again make sure you get in touch with Jill Foden
Magazines etc all came through yesterday, same day as Jill replied, I think the RAC discounts will be of definite use as my car is now just over 5yrs old, and if I dont get it serviced by a dealership next service, Mobilo Life will be invalid!

Interesing about the discounts, the Harrogate dealer, from whence the ML came, offers no discounts and the Leeds dealer is on application! Typical, just goes to show, us Yorkshire folk are the most tight b******* in the country!!! Düsseldorf, by default, gives a 10% discount if you book in via the internet!

Just re-joined!

Digital option for the magazine is a definite plus, for anyone who doesnt live the 'normal' life, being able to get the magazine in pdf format is a big move forward.

Look forward to enjoying the monthly read and keeping up contributing to the upkeep of this excellent site.
