Bent wheel bolts

Hi, I have a R129 SL500.

I have just had new tyres fitted and discovered that 2 of my wheel bolts are bent.

They are the long wheel nuts with a shoulder in the middle of the bolt.

I ordered what I thought were 2 replacement bolts suitable for the SL500 but when they were delivered I discovered that I had ordered the shorter wheel bolt without the shoulder in the middle.

The dimensions of the bolts are identical from the shoulder downwards and I wanted to know if it will be ok to use these replacements or do I need to find the correct long wheel bolts?

If so - does anyone know where I can buy some as I have searched the web and all I can find is that they are no longer made and difficult to come by.

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Had exactly the same problem the longer or extended wheel bolts are no longer supplied by MB they now supply the shorter ones, there is though some body on E-Bay who supplies a stronger version than the original ones, (they could snap if some ham fisted air powered person got at them).

Hi Frontstep - new bolts arrived day after ordering and they look much better than the standard Mercedes bolts they are replacing - well made and screwed in smoothly. Think I will order another pack of 5 and keep them as spares whilst they are still available.

I do not know what the finish is like, but spraying them with silver Hamerite works well,,easily done with a piece of wood with holes in it
