Was driving to my 630am tee time today when a deer ran out of nowhere and got smashed by my benz. I'm ok but not sure if my car is. Currently waiting for the insurance co to call me back for next steps for an estimate, but i'm concerned about finding a good repair shop to get it fixed. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Or have an idea for how much they would think it would cost to fix? I was able to drive it home (45 mins) and it runs fine so hopefully just cosmetic. 2016 c300

Ouch - that's not good. Glad you're ok but I suspect your car may not be repaired.

Oops. I had the misfortune to hit a dear last August time. Fortunately for me, the only damage was the front number plate got hit off and the front passenger headlight smashed. The number plate screwed back on but unfortunately a brand new headlight was required at a cost of £1600 for headlight, controller and labour.

Dealt with a few deer running into cars on Cannock Chase when I was in the police. They are very solid & can cause quite a lot of damage.

Glad your ok, not sure they will repair, these costs really mount up.
Keep us informed, would be interested to see how you get on.

Will do! I just got the car in September - certified preowned only 20K miles currently on it.

I talked to a mercedes certified collision center and they said barring nothing damaged internally it should be fixable but depends on what the insurance co says. Kelly blue book value on it is around $19KUS. I don't think there's anything internally wrong since it ran perfectly fine on way home from the course (45+ min drive). AC worked, car didn't overheat, no lights on in the dashboard, and only warning message was to check the driver side turn signal and headlight.

Hoping for the best and I'll for sure keep this thread updated when I hear back from the insurance co.

Well I hit a stag that bolted into the road and I couldn't avoid it. I was in a Ford Escort XR3i doing around 55mph and hit the thing square between the headlights. I was lucky it didn't come through the windscreen.
Smashed in the radiator, lower front spoiler, grill and I thought an obvious write off.
No so. New parts and a new cross member welded in and the car was sound.

Don't be too quick to write it off.

Sadly I was at the rear of a small “convoy” of car’s travelling on a road in North Hampshire when a deer ran out in front of the convoy.
The front car hit the deer which then bounced, flew over it and landed on the following car, killing the passenger

UPDATE #1: Received an estimate from the insurance company. $6,600 US. Car's value is over $20K so I would think I still got around $7K to play with before the car is considered totaled. Estimate doesn't include a new radiator (Prob $2K including labor) and anything additional they might find under the hood (which I don't think there will be much since the car still runs great). Taking it to a Mercedes authorized collision center near me and should have their estimate later today/early tomorrow.

I'll keep everyone updated but might be in the clear!
