As I feared.....nowadays with crumple zones and expensive front end components it looked like that was the outcome

Commiserations, the main point is that you are OK. The car is replaceable.

I was in a similar, although, not as bad situation last year, when a deer ran into the side of my Coupé, fortunately for me I missed Mama and Papa deer but, baby deer ran straight into the side of my car damaging the wing(fender) and passenger door.

Luckily for me, I work in the motor trade and know an excellent coachbuilder who was able to repair it all at a very reasonable price. I decided not to use the insurance as, it would have bumped my premium through the roof.

Will you get a direct replacement or something different do you think, when you get everything sorted out?

At least you know that you can walk away from a Mercedes after hitting a deer now, heck you drove it home.

Take care.

Hey everyone! So it's been about a month and got everything sorted out. I believe I paid about $25K for the 2016 and the insurance company valued it at $26K so I was able to fully pay off the loan and got about $5k for a down payment for a new car. Found a 2017 CPO C300 (same interior and exterior colors), for about the same price, with a P3 package (I think the 2016 had the luxury and P1 package). Thanks to the coronavirus interest rates, my monthly payments are about $100 less. Sometimes bad things lead to better things :)

Well I hit a stag that bolted into the road and I couldn't avoid it. I was in a Ford Escort XR3i doing around 55mph and hit the thing square between the headlights. I was lucky it didn't come through the windscreen.
Smashed in the radiator, lower front spoiler, grill and I thought an obvious write off.
No so. New parts and a new cross member welded in and the car was sound.

Don't be too quick to write it off.

Think different now, bumpers a grand. Headlights a grand or more! Electronic boxes behing grilles, bonnets designed to blow up at the back with expensive deployment devises. Today cars are written off when visually little seems wrong.
I also had a new xr3i. Which I had to get re shelled at 6 months and 6000 miles.
Unfortunately these days little is designed to last or be repairable

Great result then!
