I'm just about to get my hands on my new eclass. It's been weeks since I bought it, but in Japan everything takes ****** ages. Anyway, it'll be with me in a week.
So, now I need to get a good iPhone mount. The problem is there only seem to be a few options.

1:- air vent mounting, which I hate the idea of, I think it'll break the vent &/or overheat or overcool the phone. And I just don't want to block my air vents anyway.
2:- windscreen suction cup mounting, which I think looks ugly.
3:- sticky adhesive stuff on the dashboard with magnets & a swivel ball mounting.

The best options, in terms of appearance seems to be the sticky pad on the dashboard with a magnetic swivel ball mount. There are some pretty handsome mounts available in this style. The problem is I don't want to stick something to my dashboard that will leave a mark I can't clean up if I ever want to remove the sticky adhesive pad from the dashboard.

I'd like to know what other people are using.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I've heard a couple of people on here say they use a cd slot mount like
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/1618...3D710-134428-41853-0%26rvr_id%3D1135177821786
Personally I put up with my phone in the glove box and not seeing it, all I need to know is who's calling me and that comes up on the Comand screen. Of course many use the sat navs on their phones...
Oh that looks quite interesting, if a little large. I hadn't previously seen that method. I suppose that's a good option as I'll probably never use the CD slot for anything else. Thanks for the suggestion.

NB you can't overcool a phone; that just improves the life and performance of it ;)

You'd be surprised how cold I have to have those vents blowing in the summer here in Japan, but yeah, you're probably right.

You're not going to start an iPhone vs Android discussion are you!! I'm surprised to hear a Mercedes owner say that. Apple is to mobile devices etc, what Mercedes is to cars. They're not perfect by any means, but they're head and shoulders above the other options.

No I wouldn't, given where I'm sat right now ;)

Cold is not so good on battery storage capacity but it is very good for electronic component efficiency, and those components generate quite a bit of heat!

Have a look at Brodit mounts. They often have a few different options.

Afraid I'm a bit sad and still use CDs

John on the 230 I'm hoping it will fit in the CD navigation slot, while allowing me to leave the navigation CD in there. The audio CDs live in the CD changer in the back. Does your 230 not have Comand ?

It does Mark, my 6 changer CD is in the front though so all accessed through the same slot as the Navigation CDs which I download and remove....
