A new front bumper panel or can be it filled and sprayed. Really clueless about body repair, so some tips be much appreciated.

Get a bumper from a scrapyard (or ebay), with a bit of luck in the same colour.

That would be a lot of effort to repair to a good standard.

How did that happen ? Seems a strange place , I think a repair might be tricky given the location.

Yes, it can be repaired as good as new. The bumper would need to come off, and a lot of work would be involved, but it can be done to a high standard.

Whether or not you want to go this route is your choice. It would depend on locating a good body shop, and paying their price - which would probably be more than buying a used bumper.

Of course, a used bumper would also possibly need work and maybe a respray to achieve the same high standard.

It's the 'rock and a hard place' decision!

A decent body shop would make a good repair. You could lower the cost by removing the bumper and taking it to them, and also do refit after they have repaired.
Take car to a local recommended body shop and ask for quote, may be better than you think.

It's very repairable, and when it's done, you will not be able to see the difference. Personally, I'd go for the repair option....aside from it being the cheaper option, its also the best one. When a new bumper is fitted, it has to be painted, and with present day composition of them ( plastic + poly carbonate + ?? ) they require special etching primers, undercoating, color coating and finally the lacquer which gives them their glossy shine. Because of the flexible capabilities of the bumper, all those paints are special in that they have to be "flexible" too. With a repair job, 95% of the bumper is factory finished, and it only need's the repaired areas to be "blended in", so less chance of cracking, peeling etc.
