Is there pretty much 100 per cent consensus that automatic car washes should be avoided at all costs. I was talking to a guy maintaining one at a local garage yesterday who tried to persuade me that 'new' car washes with softer bristles did not damage paintwork at all. I was not persuaded.

my method is to scratch it and then take it to the valeters im told you should rinse it first then starting at the roof and working down rinsing the wash mit regular so as to get any grit out then you can use a sponge on the bottom half of the car and the wheels avoiding any cleaning with wheel acid also be carefull what shampoo you use as some take the protective layer off the paint im told use auto glym shampoo and conditioner for healty looking hair i mean paint

Many thanks. Am already an Autoglym shampoo adherent - but sponge all over. Must look into 'wash mitts'.
