I'd LOVE a CLK DTM :)
I've got an E500 2003 saloon, and want to carry 2 bikes if possible. Haven't been able to find any racks to fit on the boot, and as usual my MB dealer can't help (need an estate or m class sir...PLEASE PLEASE buy a new one from me!)

Anyone else solved this? Grateful for help/links to suitable products etc.

Cheers!

Welcome,, there is a range of racks that will fit on a tow bar attachment

I'm with Malcolm. The only way to carry bikes is on a tow bar mounted carrier. Stick them on the roof and watch your economy go AWOL although with running a 500 it's possibly not too high on your list of priorities? The strap on type of racks don't seem safe to me ever since I was behind a Mondeo on the motor way when it shed it's rack complete with bikes. Three bikes doing a starburst is not much fun when your driving into it!
Have a look at www.Thule.co.uk , not cheap but IMHO the best quality available.

I've used all 3 types over the years (on various vehicles) and agree that the tow-bar ones are by far the best.

Strap on - insecure and if you don't show your lights and number plate properley plod will stop you.

Roof ones - a real pain to load/unload, higher chance of scratching the car and as Roadhog says not good for mpg.
