Binding Tariff and Importation

Does anyone have any idea how easy it is to get a BTI on an 'older' SL. The word from Customs is that they are clamping down on these tariffs. Normal proceedure appeared to be that it be at least 30 years of age. No longer.
If anyone has any experience could they please share it.
