I have a W212 E350 sport estate with a glass roof. Glass section after wind screen, opening roof with a glass panel behind. There is a rubber sealing strip which runs from front to back of the glass sections of the roof. It is in the form of a hollow rubber tube.
I saw a magpie pecking away on the roof of the car, but it was too late the damage had been done, by the time I got to the car. The bird has holed a 50mm strip along side the opening section. The roof doesn't leak now but it looks bad and it might leak in the future .
I cannot imagine how you would replace the strip without taking the whole glass roof off. Does anyone have experience of replacing the seals around the glass roof. Your views would be appreciated.

I bought my 3 year old C300h last year and the first time I washed it I noticed similar damage to the rubber seal/trim either side of the sunroof. Not leaking, but unsightly.
The (franchised) dealer agreed to fix it at their expense - a not inconsiderable job as the sunroof has to be removed, so I’ve no idea of the cost. They kept the car for three days in total and I’m happy to say it is perfect now, fitting well with no wind noise.
The technician told me he’d seen similar damage three times before and thought it was likely to be caused by rodents (mouse or glis glis). I never considered it could be bird pecking damage.
I‘ve attached before and after photos…

I have never heard of that either. Fortunately we don’t see many Magpies round here, all we get is Seagull crap sometimes in pretty large doses.

I used to have a wagtail that would go mental and attack wing mirrors and chrome - obviously a male and attacking another male on his manor…
(Also obviously a male as too daft to work out it was his reflection…)
