Good afternoon

I am looking to replace the blue wreath badge on the bonnet of my R230 2004 with a black one

Has anyone else done this,or if not do we know where one can be found please

Thanks you

I believe GLK (David) did just that, albeit not with a 230.
IIRC it came from MB Newcastle Ebay shop?

Indeed I have - looks great on a black car, I think:

And yes, I bought it from MB Newcastle, John is absolutely right :)
There's also a slightly cheaper option from one of the German OE part suppliers, but the postage on a single item negates the potential savings.

Thanks Both

Spoke to MB Newcastle and bought it

For anyone with R230 there are 2 types so don't buy the first one that comes up on ebay MB Newcastle for £39 even if it says it fits

The correct part number is A0008171601 £28 for the black one, give them a call if in doubt but don't just buy the first one that comes up

Cheers

Are well that's what I was just thinking

Fishing wire and gentle persuasion Im told

If that fails then shes in for wheel, caliper, refurb, badges to black type treatment so might ask them to do it

Cheers

Easy to remove the old one - just two pins on the badge and two nylon inserts in the bonnet.

I wrapped some neoprene around an old plastic card and sharpen its edge - worked perfectly: no marks left on the bonnet, old badge perfectly intact.

Long winded version

Bit shorter version

Some after market replacements come with a stainless steel (claimed) screw and wing-nut assembly, but just as simple to fit.

Replaced mine on the R230 with another blue one as it is a blue car. I say another blue one but the original was almost completely chrome as most of the blue had been polished away. I managed to prise it out using my fingernails alone (maybe I should trim them :p). I replaced the two little plastic mounting bushes too.
