I have a 2003 CLK55 that has the following on its data card:

LEATHER - BLACK/ANTHRACITE (251A)

That looks to be the standard black leather interior for these cars, so no surprises there.

The leather is quite dry and there are also a few cracks in the mesh sections that are white-ish. Overall it is in OK condition.

I’ve had the car a number of years and tried a few different products on it:
- Autoglym cleaner and conditioner (two products) applied every 6m
- Renovo Leather Reviver (black)

What I find is that they don’t soften the leather and also don’t colour it (which is fine for the AG products but I thought the Renovo would be better).

Is there anything that anybody would recommend for the above requirements? There is a post a couple of threads down but that doesn’t really touch colour or recommend colour specific products.

you want to go to a specialist leather shop and get a very liquid cream coloured and apply that to that areas you mention. Make sure its the correct colour.

Clean and conditioned leather is more dull and plastic like that soft and shiny. Shiny leather is dirty.

I use gliptone leather cleaner and then their conditioner twice a year.

Thanks for that. I guess I am looking for a recommendation from anybody that has needed to colour.

Overall the condition is good, and I have been cleaning and conditioning. I think the areas where it has started to lose colour is what lets it down.

I am looking at furniture clinic at the moment.

The Viano I bought a few weeks back was ex-police and pretty tidy but needed a few leather cracks and scuffs sorting. I used Autoglym leather cleaner and left that to dry. Then I used Furniture Clinic black leather balm bought from Ebay for improving the damaged areas. A small tub went a long way. It went into the scuffed areas taking them back to black but buffed away off the OK areas. Allowed that to dry for an hour then second coated the worse areas. Left again for few days then treated it all with Gliptone GT11.

Result it all looks great and has regained a matt look and nice soft feel.
