Blaupunkt Car Radio/Sat Nav in 1997 129 500sl

I have a Blaupunkt Chicago Stereo with a EV AutoPilot sat Nav system.It seems to have been wired in wrong as the power to the unit is only disconnected when I take the key out of the ignition switch altogether and not when the in position 0 Where should the power cable of the Blaupunkt unit be connected to?

The cigar lighter is a switched outlet for key 1 and 2 the memory needs an all time live

As Donald Sutherland said in Kelly's Heroes..........I only drive them........I dont know what makes them go !......Do you mean that the power cable from the Blaupunkt unit should be connected to the lighter?

Certainly if I remember correctly radio's were often wired to the same point on the cigar lighter. This gives radio only with the key turned to 1, this is an aux live position, and no radio with the key out.
