Blind spot assistant.

Another driver hit my l/h wing mirror and wrecked it. Purchased a new one Complete and fitted it. I assumed all 2015 W205's were the same but the new wing mirror does not have the blind spot assistant red triangle. Now I get the message that it's not working.
Must I buy another complete assembly or just a new mirror. Can the assistant be turned off in the mean time.

where did you buy the new one from as the a md dealer will have gone by the vin. Take it back.

Yes you need the right one as the light is in the glass and you are probably a wire short on the "new" one.

Trip to dealers is in order. They are not cheap.

optional equip add on toys are crazy money - its possible the overall housing will be much the same, but the loom inside and the glass will be very different

Thanks for the reply. Is there the possibility of replacing the glass unit and as a last resort and just to get rid of the message, can you turn off the blind spot assistant.
I mention the replacement glass because the cars previous mirror was with the assistant

pump your vin into the likes of mb-teilekatalog and you will see whats needed, - note you need to know the options (you will get from the first page) on the car as many parts are option specific.

As to the question, new assembly or a new glass, I cant answer as I dont know whats broken, and I dont know what part (assembly is availabale for purchase).

As mentioned use the link above and see whats relevant for your motor or take a trip to the dealers with your vin and tell them what you need, they are usually to happy to show you in the screen and print the relevant page of the IPL. They are relucatant however to give out PN, but those you can find on the link mentioned.

Turning off blind spot assist may be possible with recoding of star as the system uses other sensors, if it possible maybe someone with knowledge of star coding will pop along later. but to be honest, it may be one of those options that once you have had, you cant live without it.
